This research was carried out in the Amharic Language Department of Debre Markos Teachers’ College. In doing this research, the researchers recorded the names of all the participants and coded them while they were learning about vocabulary in chapter two of the course entitled ‘Basic Mother Tongue’. The purpose of vocabulary and language learning is to help learners not to use informal vocabulary for social communication and properly utilize formal words and phrases, and as the informants are the will be language teachers, it is to help them become role models for their respective students at primary schools. The researchers tried to solve the observed problems using the regular class provision by simply focusing on the prospective teacher who made reflections in each session. After providing these strategies for the 16 sessions, all the prospective teachers showed significant improvement except one prospective teacher. As per our plan, for one of the prospective teachers who failed to show changes using the two strategies was made to hear a video of renowned Amharic Language professional’s speech. In spite of all these attempts, the prospective teacher did not show significant changes in formal word utilization while making reflections. As a result, the researchers made a plan to work with the remaining prospective teacher.

2023-09-24T00:00:00-06:00 Copyright (c) 2023 IPS Journal of Education https://journals.ipsintelligentsia.com/humanities-arts-social-sciences/index.php/ije/article/view/6 Development of Hots-Based Communication and Business Negotiation Teaching Materials 2023-01-05T18:29:08-07:00 Lenti Susanna Saragih ranggarestuprayogo@gmail.com Choms Gary Ganda Tua Sibarani lenti@unimed.ac.id Jufri Dharma lenti@unimed.ac.id
This study aims to test the feasibility level of HOTS-Based Communication and Business Negotiation teaching materials in learning. The method used in this research is the R&D method using a 4D model with 4 stages, namely define, design, develop and disseminate. The population in this study was the fourth semester students of the Unimed FE Business Education Study Program. Data collection techniques used observations and questionnaires with research instruments in the form of validation sheets for expert assessments and student response questionnaires. This research activity begins with a preliminary study by conducting interviews with the Head of the Study Program and the course lecturers. Then the design and development is carried out by analyzing the RPS and learning outcomes of graduates, collecting reference sources and compiling drafts of teaching materials. The next stage is to evaluate the product by conducting a limited trial, revising the product and then carrying out data processing and evaluation. Based on the practicality test, it can be seen that the HOTS-Based Communication and Business Negotiation Textbook is very practical to use, it can be seen from 92% of respondents stating that the HOTS-Based Communication and Business Negotiation Textbook is very practical to use, 8% said it was practical and there were no respondents who say that the book is impractical or impractical. There is an effect of using HOTS-Based Communication and Business Negotiation teaching materials on student learning outcomes in the Business Education study program, Faculty of Economics, State University of Medan. Increasing and the correlation value between the pre-test and post-test was 0.947 at a significance level of 0.000<0.005.
2023-09-05T00:00:00-06:00 Copyright (c) 2023 IPS Journal of Education https://journals.ipsintelligentsia.com/humanities-arts-social-sciences/index.php/ije/article/view/7 Analysis of the Infusion of Science Process Skill Contents into the Ethiopian Grade Nine Biology Textbook: A Content Analysis 2023-04-15T06:51:34-06:00 Solomon Mengistie btlhmslmn1997@gmail.com Million Tadesse milliontadesse21@gmail.com
This study aims to assess the status of Science Process skill contents in the Ethiopian grade nine biology textbooks. It evaluates the inclusion of basic and integrated science process skills (SPS) involved in scientific inquiry using the eleven Science Process Skills indicators. After having accessed the Ethiopian grade nine biology textbook from the net, the researchers read it once and again while doing this research. The content analysis research design was used in this research. The result confirmed that basic science process skills cover an excessive percentage compared to integrated science process skills. The skills included in the textbook were inferring, observing, and classifying (from the basic SPS), experimenting, and modeling (from the integrated SPS). The textbook is additionally not often made out of scientific communication skills and data collection and interpretation SPSs. However, the textbook no longer consisted of the prediction (from the basic SPS) and hypothesizing and controlling variables (from the integrated SPS). Generally, the research findings confirmed the unequal integration of SPS in the textbook. On the premise of the findings of this study, the researchers forwarded that textbook writers and professionals at the Ministry of Education need to prepare a preferred and harmonized biology textbook with a reasonable balance of all the integrated skills that could increase students’ use of the integrated scientific skills
2023-09-05T00:00:00-06:00 Copyright (c) 2023 IPS Journal of Education
