Abstract

Nowadays, plant-based control of vector mosquitoes is very important in preventing the environmental toxicity caused by insecticides used to control vector mosquitoes. Thus the present study was focused to evaluate the larvicidal and pupicidal activity of different extracts of Coccini grandis gourd against filarial vector Culex quinquefasciatus. The larvae of C. quinquefasiatus were used for the larvicidal activity. Fourth instars larvae and pupae were used for the larvicidal activity study. The mortality of larvae and pupae was observed every 3 hours and recorded. Results showed that different extracts of C. grandis gourd possess larvicidal and pupicidal activity against filariasis transmitting vector C. quinquefasciatus.
